Only one local contest was on the ballot this September, the Democratic Party contest for Senate District 38 (formerly held by GOP Senate Minority Leader Dennis Algiere.) It includes Charlestown districts 503 and 504.
Victoria Gu emerged victorious by a wide margin in Charlestown and district-wide. She is a Charlestown resident and chair of the Climate Resiliency Commission. In the general election she will face Republican Westin Place and Independent Caswell Cooke, both of whom reside in Westerly.
