The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has resulted in voting procedure changes and many more people opting for vote-by-mail or early voting. Here is some information for you, taken from the Charlestown Town Council meeting agenda for August 11. You can get more information at vote.ri.gov.
For the statewide primary election - September 8, 2020
Mail Ballot: To vote by mail you must first apply for a mail ballot, then you will receive the ballot by mail, then you must submit the ballot at Town Hall or by mail. Mail ballot applications are available at vote.ri.gov (you will need to be able to print the form) or by calling the Town Clerk’s Office (401) 364-1200. Mail Ballot applications must be returned to the Charlestown Board of Canvassers (may drop at the Town Clerk's office) by August 18, 2020 at 4:00 p.m., for entry into the Central Voter Registration System, at 4540 South County Trail, Charlestown RI by mail, in person or in the drop box at the entrance of the Town Hall. The Secretary of State’s Office will begin mailing Statewide Primary ballots to those voters who have requested a ballot on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Ballots will be mailed to the address specified on the Mail Ballot application. Mail Ballots must be returned by 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, either to the Charlestown Board of Canvassers by mail, in person, in the drop box at the entrance of the Town Hall, or to the State Board of Elections at 2000 Plainfield Pike, Cranston, RI.
Early In Person Voting: Charlestown Board of Canvassers, 4540 South County Trail, Charlestown RI from August 19, 2020 through September 4, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In Person Voting on Primary Day: All Charlestown Voting Districts will vote at the Charlestown Elementary School, 363 Carolina Back Road, Charlestown RI on September 8 from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm.
For the General Election - November 3, 2020

In Person Voting on Election Day, November 3, from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm Voting District 0501: Charlestown Elementary School, 363 Carolina Back Road, Charlestown RI. Voting District 0502: Charlestown Town Hall, 4540 South County Trail, Charlestown RI. Voting District 0503: Quonochontaug Grange, 5662 Post Rd, Charlestown RI. Voting District 0504: James Parish Center, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Rd, Charlestown RI.
