Take steps to prevent chimney fires

This is the time of year when people turn to wood stoves and fireplaces for heating their homes. Especially this year, with more people out of work, people in Charlestown can be increasingly expected to turn to wood heat to save money.


We urge you to get your chimney inspected and cleaned annually. Each year our fire departments respond to a dozen or more chimney fires in town; a result of letting creosote from wood fires build up over several years.
