Town Council Reviews 2020 Budget

Members of the Town Council heard an overview of the fiscal 2020 budget at their meeting on Monday, and after asking several questions gave unanimous but tentative approval to the spending plan.

Richard Sartor, who chairs the Budget Commission, said the commission’s recommended budget is $30.3 million, a 6.4 percent increase over the current budget of $27.7 million. The property tax rate would remain at $9.64 per $1,000 of taxable value.

The next step will be the public budget hearing, which is scheduled for May 6.
