Stephen J. Stokes - Town Council

Stephen Stokes currently serves on the Charlestown Town Council. He has been a resident of Charlestown since childhood and takes pride in Charlestown’s past and its future.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Norwich University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Rhode Island. A retired lieutenant from the fire service, he began his public-safety career at age fourteen as a volunteer with Charlestown Ambulance and Fire. He continues that commitment today as an instructor at the Rhode Island Fire Academy.
His town service began with the Solarize Charlestown Initiative, which helped residents obtain solar panels at reduced cost. Before his election to the Town Council, he served on the Charlestown Emergency Management Agency, the Economic Improvement Commission, and the Zoning Board of Review, where he now serves as Council liaison.
As two-term Councilor, he represents Charlestown on the Washington County Regional Planning Council, and the various boards and committees he is assigned. He looks forward to continuing to serve the community and is seeking re-election in November.
