Stephen J. Stokes - Town Council
Stephen currently serves on the Charlestown Town Council. He has been a resident of Charlestown since childhood and takes pride in the past and present Charlestown community. He holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Norwich University and is completing his Master of Public Administration at the University of Rhode Island. A retired lieutenant from the fire service, Stephen had a long career in public safety, starting at fourteen as a volunteer for Charlestown Ambulance and Fire. He continues his public safety roots as an instructor for the State Fire Academy.
Outside Stephen’s passion for public safety, his town service started as a member of the Solarize Charlestown Initiative to provide solar panels to citizens of Charlestown at reduced costs. Before being elected to the Town Council, he was a member of the Charlestown Emergency Management Agency and the Economic Improvement Commission. He also served on Charlestown's Zoning Board of Review and is now the Council liaison.
As Councilor, he is a member of the Ordinance Review Ad Hoc Committee, the Design Standards Committee, and is the Charlestown representative to the Washington County Regional Planning Council. He looks forward to continuing to serve the Charlestown Community by seeking re-election in November.

Stephen lives with his wife, Allison, and two dogs, Petey and Winston, and is a hobby fine woodworker.
