Many April Charlestown Events to Note

We have a flurry of upcoming events to bring to your attention: Meetings, Voting, and Outdoor Events!

 

Monday, April 8, 2024: Charlestown resident Elle Clark, Chariho High School Senior and Salutatorian, will be presenting and discussing her Senior Portfolio to our Town Council at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

 

Monday, April 8, 2024: the first regular April Town Council meeting will be held starting at 7 p.m.

·    Last Thursday, the Council reviewed the 2024-25 budget in detail and made some changes. This meeting will have further discussion and possible changes and the Council will vote to bring it to the formal May 6 Budget Public Hearing.

·    The Council will appoint a Town Moderator, who will run the May 6 Budget Public Hearing, to fill the open position due to the passing of Charlie Beck. Applicants are Ray Dreczko, Jr. and Leone Mainelli.

Tuesday, April 9: the vote for the Chariho School District annual budget. Historically, Charlestown's votes are very important in order for the budget to be approved so please vote. All Charlestown voters will vote at the Charlestown Town Hall, 4540 South County Trail.


Saturday, April 13: Trout fishing opening day in Rhode Island. Stocked locations are listed here.


Saturday, April 13: The Flashlight Family Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Ninigret Park at 7:30 p.m. Online registration is available here

 

Monday, April 15: starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Charlestown Elementary School, the Town Council will hold their first discussion on the draft Ninigret Park Master Plan. This will be the first time the Town Council will discuss the vision for the park that was drafted by the consultants. The draft can be read here.

 

Thursday, April 18: Superhero Breakfast at The Hungry Haven, 5000 South County Trail from 9-11 a.m. Dress up as your own superhero or come as you are and there will be discounted breakfast specials for all that participate. Cross Mills Fire Department and the Charlestown Ambulance Corp. will be there, showing emergency equipment, to share in the fun! 

 

Saturday, April 20: Earth Day Celebration and Roadside Litter Pickup Day. More information here.

 

Monday, May 6: as mentioned above, Charlestown's Budget Public Hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Charlestown Town Hall.

 

Tuesday, May 7, 2024: The Chariho School District school construction plan has been in the news, and social media, a lot. The Bond Referendum for that will be held on May 7 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. All Charlestown Voters will vote at Charlestown Town Hall. (Early in-person voting is provided April 17 - May 6, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm at the Charlestown Town Hall.)
