CRU Announces Support for House Bill Protecting Bees

House Bill 5641 prohibits the use of neonicotinoids which are a class of insecticides that have been shown to be extremely harmful to bees.

Local agriculture, including honey production, is important for rural Rhode Island and Charlestown in particular. Some insecticides have been proven to be extremely harmful to bees but are still being widely used.

This house bill, currently referred to the Environment and Natural Resources committee, would ban the use of these pesticides in Rhode Island.

CRU announces support for this legislation.
